Would Libs Supress Dissent?

Or, How Algore Is A Complete Dick!

Climate of Fear

Global-warming alarmists intimidate dissenting scientists into silence.

BY RICHARD LINDZEN Wednesday, April 12, 2006 12:01 a.m. EDT

There have been repeated claims that this past year's hurricane activity was another sign of human-induced climate change. Everything from the heat wave in Paris to heavy snows in Buffalo has been blamed on people burning gasoline to fuel their cars, and coal and natural gas to heat, cool and electrify their homes. Yet how can a barely discernible, one-degree increase in the recorded global mean temperature since the late 19th century possibly gain public acceptance as the source of recent weather catastrophes? And how can it translate into unlikely claims about future catastrophes?

The answer has much to do with misunderstanding the science of climate, plus a willingness to debase climate science into a triangle of alarmism. Ambiguous scientific statements about climate are hyped by those with a vested interest in alarm, thus raising the political stakes for policy makers who provide funds for more science research to feed more alarm to increase the political stakes. After all, who puts money into science–whether for AIDS, or space, or climate–where there is nothing really alarming? Indeed, the success of climate alarmism can be counted in the increased federal spending on climate research from a few hundred million dollars pre-1990 to $1.7 billion today. It can also be seen in heightened spending on solar, wind, hydrogen, ethanol and clean coal technologies, as well as on other energy-investment decisions.

But there is a more sinister side to this feeding frenzy. Scientists who dissent from the alarmism have seen their grant funds disappear, their work derided, and themselves libeled as industry stooges, scientific hacks or worse. Consequently, lies about climate change gain credence even when they fly in the face of the science that supposedly is their basis.

HT: Drudge

I keep wondering if there are any fart sniffing libs who can show how "global warming" has actually increased the number of hurricanes. At the same time, I wonder if they can explain why the number of Pacfic storms have decreased.

My sense is that when you have a bunch of ass clowns running around claiming that "global warming" is causing all the hurricanes, but the director of the National Hurricane Center, Max Mayfield, says that it isn't, I gotta go with the latter. Especially since the libs have lied about everything else regarding last season. About the only thing they've gotten right is the fact that a major storm named Katrina hit close to New Orleans.

A Little Help!

Wed,12 April, 2006

Could somebody please look up Blessed July and tell me how Saddam Hussein was not a threat?

Anyone? Anyone?

Am I The Only One….

Wed,12 April, 2006

Who said "oh shit!" when Sen. "Chappaquiddick" Ted declared that the ILLEGAL immigration dealy is the new Civil Rights movement?

Seems to me that blacks and Hispanics are now going to get into a deathmatch to see who can be the biggest whores of the American left and who can garner the biggest status of victim. Cynthia McKinney could lead the assault of victimhood with her "cell phone of power".

Has the shit hit the fan (oh hell yeah! And Uncle Ted flung it)? Will the Hispanics become the favorite whore du'jour  of the DNC? Will both sides continue to let themselves be fucked over by the DNC and the Commie/Neo socialist left? How do you ask for Astroglide in Spanish?

Will Batman exclaim "screw this! Let them fight amongst themselves!"? Stay tuned. Maybe a different Bat time, Same Bat Channel!

In n Out

Wed,12 April, 2006

Yeah sorry.

I'm going to be a bit busy this week between work, cleaning house for company this weekend and The History Channel's 10 Days that Unexpectedly Changed America

I'll try to keep in touch though.

Is It Cool In Here, Or Is It Just Me?

Mon,10 April, 2006

I thought this article was pretty interesting and sorta sums up my thoughts on the subject.

There is a problem with global warming…It stopped in 1998.

On “Leaks”, Liberals & Liars

Mon,10 April, 2006

O.k. The libs are the liars, but I liked the title.

Just one thought on this for now:

Ben Affleck says  Bush 'Can Be Hung' for 'Probably' Leaking Plame's Name  (via NewsBusters.org)

Affleck: (If Bush did leak Plame's name) “You could be killed. That's not a joking around Tom DeLay 'I'll do a year, I bribed the state officials with corporate money.' That's like they shoot you in the battlefield for doing that. Don't you think we should find out who leaked that name?

Right. So we should be expecting Leaky Leahy's execution any day now, right? How, exactly, can the president be executed for "leaking", but James Risen and the DNC Times editors can't?

Since I'm not as "nuanced" as some other folks, could someone please explain to me how the POTUS can leak ANYTHING?

Speaking of which, has anybody else noticed the liberal ass clowns have dropped the "culture of corruption" talking point? I mean, c'mon! You supposedly have the premier champion of privacy committing ID theft and you want us to gladly swallow that load? Whom the hell do you think you're foolin'?

Popping My Brokeback Cherry

Fri,7 April, 2006

So I got a copy of Brokeback Mountain tonight on a trip to Wally World. I guess I'll watch it this morning, even though I wanted to wait and see it with TGCpartner.

BTW, Wasn't there a kerfuffle (there you go, James) the other day because Wal Mart wasn't selling it?

SPOILERS AHEAD!

I thought it was a good movie. Very good story. I think I ought to read the book though. For example, I wonder why Jack was beaten. Did he hit on someone or was it a mugging? I dunno.

Ennis' accent. Sounded like maybe his speech coach had aphasia with a chaw of tobacco on top of it, but I eventually got over that.

I have to wonder why they were herding sheep instead of cattle. Maybe the book explains it.

I liked the makeup showing the age progression. It was better in Driving Miss Daisy of course.

Stemming the rose? That's funny. I gotta write that one down and use it whenever possible. 😉

Did it ever get warm in that movie? Snow in August. They were always wearing jackets or coats.

That's all I have for now. If I think of anything else, I'll add it later.
